Tell us more about your role in CAMS?
I am the owner and the president of the company. I feel my most important job is to set the tone and build relationships.
What is the most difficult part of your job? But the most rewarding one?
The most challenging aspect is recruiting manufacturing talent that is still affordable. The most rewarding facet is seeing people and customers succeed.
Is there anything that you would change about your professional path?
While my success is modest, it’s more than I knew I would accomplish when I was younger. I grew up with an amazing and loving single mom. In spite of her hard work, her income hovered near the poverty line. While I never felt poor, I had to learn how to break out of that pattern and how to run a business. I’m still learning. I’m very grateful for my background and my path, and I’m super grateful for the people with whom I get to interact. Someday I’d also like to see what else the world might have to offer.
What’s your key strategy for the development of your company?
Our most important characteristic is caring about our customer’s success as we’d wish for someone else to care about ours.
What do you think about the next period of time, keeping in mind the pandemic and the new business climate? How will your industry be affected?
I believe manufacturing in our country will continue to play an important role. I also believe that if consumer spending falls dramatically because of the pandemic, unemployment may continue to be high.
What books do you have on your nightstand?
Willie Nelson, “It’s a Long Story”, Malcolm Gladwell, “Blink” and David Goggins, “Can’t Hurt Me”.
