Who is Sofia?
I’m a 22 year old and NYC-based startup founder and content creator.
Tell us more about your role in Klaia.
I am the co-founder and CEO of Klaia, a project management tool that helps content creators organize & manage the admin side of content creation.
As a very-stage startup, we don’t have any employees. It is just me and my technical co-founder, Val.
This means, I take care of different areas of the business, including marketing, operations, and more. As the CEO, it is also my responsibility to fundraise.
What is the most difficult part of your job? But the most rewarding one?
As an early-stage startup founder I have a never ending to-do list that just keeps growing. It can be very difficult to keep up with marketing, customer service, operations and more. But it is incredibly rewarding to see your business grow even if it happens slowly.
Is there anything that you would change about your professional path?
Even though I never imagined myself launching my own business I wouldn’t change anything.
What’s your key strategy for the development of your company?
We focus on providing the best experience for content creators using our platform.
What do you think about the next period of time, keeping in mind the pandemic and the new business climate? How will your industry be affected?
The creator economy has grown a lot over the past couple years and it will continue to grow. However, the way we watch content will change and creators will have to adapt.
TikTok played a very important role in the growth of the creator economy, and even surpassed YouTube’s number of users at some point. However people are getting short-form video fatigue and I believe they’ll go back to watching long-form videos on YouTube. This will open the doors for many new YouTube creators to gain an audience.
Another thing is that with the current business climate, marketing budgets will be slashed and the opportunities for paid brand partnerships will be more scarce. This will highlight the importance of developing multiple income streams as a content creator.
Please name a few technologies which have the greatest impact on your business.
It is very important for us to have a great-looking website and Webflow was the best tool to achieve that. It is very user friendly and allows you to design a responsive website in just a couple days. Another tool we use is Mixpanel – we use it to track user retention.
What books do you have on your nightstand?
I’m currently reading “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle.
